TournaMate ("we", "us", "our") builds an app for organizing and following sports tournaments. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using TournaMate, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — username, email address, and a password (stored only as a salted hash; we never store it in readable form).
- Profile details — optional country, location (a text label you type, not GPS), date of birth, and a profile image.
- Content you create — tournaments, teams, rosters, match results and events, invitations, and chat messages.
- Images — photos you select for profiles, teams, and tournaments. Images are resized and compressed on your device, then uploaded.
Information collected automatically
- Device & push token — a push notification token and basic device model information, used to deliver notifications you opt into.
- Diagnostic data — if the app crashes or errors, limited technical data (stack traces, app version, device/OS, and your account ID) is sent to our error-reporting provider. Passwords, tokens, and one-time codes are stripped before sending, and authentication requests are excluded.
- Server logs — request URLs, timing, and error events. IP addresses are used transiently for rate limiting and are not retained as part of your profile.
How we use your information
- Create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- Run tournament features — invitations, teams, matches, standings, chat.
- Send notifications and emails you have enabled (you control these in-app).
- Diagnose crashes, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run TournaMate, and with other users as part of normal app use.

Other users
Content you create is visible to other participants according to the tournament's settings. Public tournaments and their participant lists may be visible to anyone in the app; private tournaments are limited to invited people.
Legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. When you delete your account:
- Your profile, drafts, notifications, and pending invitations are permanently deleted.
- Tournaments and matches you took part in are kept as historical records, but your name is replaced with "Deleted User" so past results stay accurate.
- Deletion may be blocked while you have a live tournament, an upcoming tournament with other registered participants, or a team competing in a live tournament. Once those conclude, deletion can proceed.
One-time verification codes expire automatically within 30 minutes.
Security
Passwords are hashed, sessions use short-lived tokens with rotation and revocation, traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to authentication endpoints is rate limited. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
TournaMate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
- Manage notification preferences in the app at any time.
- Update or correct your profile details in the app.
- Request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page.
